The legendary Golden Triangle begins at Delhi

Delhi lies at one corner or India’s famous Golden Triangle. The other two corners are the cities of Agra and Jaipur. The best way for you to discover the glories of the Golden Triangle is on a Finnair Plus private tour. You will travel in a comfortable air-conditioned vehicle with an expert English-speaking guide.

Eternal India and the lost splendours of empire in Delhi

Delhi is really two cities: New Delhi was constructed in the early decades of the 20th century when the British transferred their colonial capital from Calcutta to Delhi. You can enjoy the architecture of Sir Edwin Lutyens and the lost glories of the British Empire to your heart’s content in the broad avenues of New Delhi. The spicier old city of Delhi, on the other hand, is the ancient capital of Muslim India. Its endless labyrinthine bazaars, aromas, sounds and crowds are at the very least bewildering to the visitor.

Love eternal in Agra
When you want to get away from the hectic life of Delhi there is no better place to find peace than a couple of hundred kilometres to the southwest, where the city of Agra beckons the visitor to come and admire one of the greatest wonders of the world, the Taj Mahal. This great palace was constructed by the Mogul Emperor Shah Jahan to serve as a mausoleum and monument to an eternal love for his dead wife Mumtaj Mahal in the 17th century. There is little point in attempting to describe the building. They say that the world is divided into the fortunate and the ignorant: those who have visited the Taj Mahal, and those who have not.

The city that blushes: Jaipur
Jaipur is the capital of Rajasthan, the Maharaja state. The city veritably blushes at sunset, when the pink painted buildings present an unforgettable dreamlike vista. There is no question that Jaipur really is the Pink City. It was painted in this way by order of Maharaja Man Singh II when Edward Prince of Wales made an official visit to the city at the end of the 19th century.
