Hamburg - an excellent destination for shoppers
Hamburg was the most impressive of the great Hanseatic cities, and trade continues to be its principal distinguishing feature. The Port of Hamburg, for example, is still one of the busiest in Europe.

It is also ideally situated for the long-distance shopper only a short flight from Helsinki and other European centres, and all it takes are a couple of days to complete a memorable expedition at all times of year. The shopping arcades of the Neustadt district, for example, are ideal for shopping in all weathers.
In spite of its general energy, Hamburg is a reasonable place for the ordinary shopper to comprehend. The city centre is dominated by the Alster lake and a general maritime atmosphere.
