It's always Octoberfest in Munich

Even though, as the name suggests, the city's Oktoberfest proper takes place in the early autumn, the spirit of this great celebration can be sensed at all times of year in Munich. The uniquely German Gemütlichkeit congeniality remains ever present in this city of one million residents that is still known as the village. There are no ceremonies to forbid one from taking a snack in the form of a Weisswurst sausage with sweet mustard and a litre of beer whenever the mood strikes.

Fascinating museums abound
If there is only time to take in one museum during your visit to Munich, then the best choice is the Deutsches Museum, which is the world's largest museum of technology. For the less technically minded there are also Alte Pinakothek, Neue Pinakothek or Pinakothek der Moderne, which present the finest works of European visual artists from various eras. On the other hand, there is the unique BMW museum, which has something for everyone, car enthusiast or not. All in all, there's certainly no shortage of options!

Half a dozen shopping streets
As with all German cities, Munich is an excellent place to go shopping. The principal streets for shopping are Maximillianstrasse, Theatinerstrasse, Briennerstrasse, Sendlingerstrasse, Kaufingerstrasse and Neuhauserstrasse.
