New York is the incomparable urban experience that thrills the heart and awakens the senses. The city offers an endless supply of sights and experiences. One can never take more than the tiniest bite from the Big Apple on any one occasion, so the best approach to the city is one of moderation.

If you are fond of art, then you could choose to spend your entire holiday in Lower Manhattan. There are around one thousand art galleries here. New York's celebrated Guggenheim museum is definitely worth a visit, and don’t forget The MoMa museum of modern art either.

New York is nothing if not multicultural. Many of its ethnic quarters have become legendary, not least through portrayal of the city on the silver screen. Places like the Jewish quarter on the Lower East Side, Chinatown in Lower Manhattan or Little Italy are a feast for all the senses.

There are about 25,000 restaurants in New York, which is more than enough choice to be going along with. As evening draws in you can soak up the Bohemian atmosphere with jazz in Greenwich Village or go to the opposite extreme at one of the city's all night bookstores.
