Shanghai captivates

Shanghai is a place where it is easy to find extremes. Traditional and modern lifestyles meet in this versatile metropolis. Huangpo River runs though the city. On the eastern bank is Poudong, the centre of financial and business communities with its skyscapers. Most of the interesting tourist attractions are on the western side of the river.

Stock market trading and Art Deco architecture
With its imposing 1920s buildings, the Bund area is known as the Wall Street of Shanghai, and is definitely worth seeing. Surprising as it may sound, the Art Deco cluster in Old Shanghai is the largest in the world. The new TV tower is also a recommended place for visitors; at least for those who are not afraid of heights. This structure rises to a height of 457 metres, and offers breathtaking views.

World fashions and made to measure suits
Shanghai is a shopper's paradise, where you will find just about everything. There are modern department stores in Huaihai Street and somewhat smaller shops in the Nanjing pedestrian precinct. And if they don't have the right size, then you can get your clothing made to measure at very reasonable prices in the Dongjiadu Street fabric market.

Eastern delicacies
The city has restaurants that go on forever. For local specialities try the establishments in Wuijiang Street. There are also genuine gastronomic experiences to be enjoyed in the form of snacks from the street kitchens found almost everywhere in the city.
